Field medicine in remote locations may change dramatically thanks to a new bioreactor developed by scientists at Tennessee’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The bioreactor takes away the need to refrigerate drugs used to treat conditions like diabetes by synthesizing small quantities of the medicine’s therapeutic protein components on the spot.
